A five-person team on Service Hub Professional pays $450 a month for seats, a required $1,500 onboarding fee up front, and $0.50 for every conversation the AI agent resolves past roughly the first 60. That is $6,900 in year one before the AI does much work, and it's the total that HubSpot Service Hub pricing leaves behind a "starts at" label. The $7 a seat that gets quoted around belongs to Starter, a tier with no AI agent at all.
This guide prices the same three teams (3, 5 and 10 people) on every tier, shows each sum, and explains the four moving parts: seat types, credits, the onboarding fee and the annual commitment. Talvo makes a competing product, so a short section near the end shows what the same teams pay on it. Every HubSpot number comes from HubSpot's own pricing page, credits page and product catalog, checked October 21, 2026. Where a number is inferred rather than read, we say so.
What 3, 5 and 10 people pay, year one and year two
Start with seats and the onboarding fee, because those are fixed. HubSpot prices Service Hub per seat. The Professional tier is the one most small teams end up needing, since the AI agent, knowledge base, SLAs and help desk workspace all start there. The pricing page shows "starts at $90 a seat" with $100 struck through, and the page loads set to annual payment. We read $90 as the pay-annually price and $100 as the pay-monthly price. The page doesn't label them, but HubSpot's catalog lists the Professional Service Seat at $100 a month, which fits.
| Team | Seats per month ($90) | Seats per year | Onboarding (once) | Year one | Year two |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 people | 3 × $90 = $270 | $3,240 | $1,500 | $4,740 | $3,240 |
| 5 people | 5 × $90 = $450 | $5,400 | $1,500 | $6,900 | $5,400 |
| 10 people | 10 × $90 = $900 | $10,800 | $1,500 | $12,300 | $10,800 |
That's Professional, paying annually, seats only. Pay monthly and the seat price is $100, but the commitment is still a year: the page says "Commit annually" even on the monthly option. Three seats become $300 a month ($3,600 a year, $5,100 in year one), five become $500 ($6,000, $7,500) and ten become $1,000 ($12,000, $13,500).
Enterprise starts at $150 a seat with a $3,500 onboarding fee and is sold through sales. On the same arithmetic that's $450, $750 and $1,500 a month, or $8,900, $12,500 and $21,500 in year one, before anything negotiable changes.
Starter looks cheap, and the next section explains why that needs a footnote. Free is real, though: "Free for up to 2 users. No credit card required," with live chat (carrying HubSpot branding) and ticketing.
The $7 Starter price, and why $20 is probably the real one
On our October 21, 2026 read, the Starter card on the Service Hub pricing page said "Starts at $7/mo/seat," with $20 struck through. Three details change how to read it.
First, that card is the "Starter Customer Platform," the bundle with every HubSpot hub at Starter level, not a Service-only price. Its tagline is "Essential marketing, sales, service, content, and data management software."
Second, the page loads set to annual billing and doesn't label the struck-through price, so reading $20 as the pay-monthly price is an inference. HubSpot's catalog supports it by listing the Starter Core Seat at $20 a month.
Third, a third-party price tracker logs $7 as a promotional cut from $9 in late May 2026. HubSpot's own pages don't say so, so treat that as unconfirmed. Older guides quote $15 or $9. Treat $7 as a promotion, not a stable list price.
| Starter, seats only | Promo ($7) | Inferred monthly ($20) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 people | $21 a month ($252 a year) | $60 a month ($720 a year) |
| 5 people | $35 a month ($420 a year) | $100 a month ($1,200 a year) |
| 10 people | $70 a month ($840 a year) | $200 a month ($2,400 a year) |
No onboarding fee is listed for Starter, and it allows monthly commitment. What it doesn't have is the point: per the feature table, no knowledge base, no SLAs, no help desk workspace and no Customer Agent. You get live chat with removable HubSpot branding, ticketing, 500 calling minutes, one HubSpot phone number, and 500 credits.
Seat types: Core, Service and view-only
HubSpot sells two kinds of paid seat. Starter plans are "accessed with Core Seats." Professional and Enterprise use "Service Seats." View-only seats cost nothing extra, which is useful if managers only read reports.
| Seat | Starter | Professional | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Seat (per month, catalog) | $20 | $50 | $75 |
| Service Seat (per month, catalog) | Not available | $100 | $150 |
The catalog lists both seat types at the higher tiers, but neither it nor the pricing page spells out how they combine on a Professional invoice, or whether a teammate who only needs CRM access takes a $50 Core Seat while an agent takes a $100 Service Seat. So the sums above use the "starts at" Service Seat price for everyone. If some of your people won't touch tickets, ask HubSpot sales to price them separately before you sign. HubSpot's pricing page doesn't state a seat minimum.

The onboarding fee: $1,500 or $3,500, required
Professional carries a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500. Enterprise carries $3,500. The pricing page marks both as required, and neither shows up in the "starts at" seat price. It's charged once, so it only hurts in year one, but it's real money on day one. A 3-person team's first invoice for Professional is the $1,500 plus its first seat payment.
One agency blog says the fee can be avoided by buying through a Solutions Partner. That is a partner's claim, not HubSpot's, and HubSpot's own pricing page says nothing about waiving the fee. Ask in writing.
HubSpot Credits and the Customer Agent
HubSpot meters its AI in "HubSpot Credits," priced at $0.010 each. Buy them in packs (1,000 credits for $10) or turn on Pay-as-You-Go. Each tier includes a monthly allotment:
| Tier | Included credits per month | Worth, at $0.01 |
|---|---|---|
| Free | None listed | n/a |
| Starter | 500 | $5 |
| Professional | 3,000 | $30 |
| Enterprise | 5,000 | $50 |
Two rules matter. Credits reset monthly and "unused credits do not roll over." And included credits "are not additive across products": run several HubSpot hubs and you get the highest single allotment, not the sum. If other AI features in your account use credits too, they draw on that same allotment.
The Customer Agent, HubSpot's AI that answers customers, costs $0.50 per resolved conversation, which the pricing page footnotes as 50 credits per resolution. Voice is 50 credits a minute, or $0.50 a minute by the same arithmetic. It's available only on Professional and Enterprise. It handles chat, email, forms and calling, according to the pricing page.
The price changed on April 14, 2026. Before that it was $1.00 per conversation, and guides written earlier still say "100 credits a conversation." HubSpot's announcement, updated April 13, 2026, explains the move to paying when the task is complete. HubSpot says on the pricing page that 65%+ of conversations are resolved automatically; that's a vendor claim, and the real figure depends on your help content.
Here's what the credits mean for the AI bill. Professional's 3,000 included credits cover 60 resolutions (3,000 ÷ 50). Beyond that you pay $0.01 a credit.
| Resolutions per month | Credits needed (× 50) | Credits beyond the 3,000 included | Extra cost per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 5,000 | 2,000 | $20 | $240 |
| 500 | 25,000 | 22,000 | $220 | $2,640 |
| 1,000 | 50,000 | 47,000 | $470 | $5,640 |
On Enterprise the 5,000 included credits cover exactly 100 resolutions, so 500 a month costs 25,000 − 5,000 = 20,000 credits, or $200.
One more thing to check: the pricing page offers 14 days of free Customer Agent use when you buy at least one Professional or Enterprise seat, but HubSpot's announcement mentions a 28-day trial. The pages disagree, so assume 14 until your account says otherwise. And read HubSpot's own definition of a "resolved" conversation in its Customer Agent help article before you forecast volume. Our AI resolution pricing comparison lines up how different vendors count.
The full year-one bill, seats plus onboarding plus AI
Put it together for Professional with annual payment. Year one is seats plus the $1,500 plus twelve months of credits beyond the included 3,000.
| Team | 100 resolutions a month: year one | Year two | 500 resolutions a month: year one | Year two |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 people | $3,240 + $1,500 + $240 = $4,980 | $3,480 | $3,240 + $1,500 + $2,640 = $7,380 | $5,880 |
| 5 people | $5,400 + $1,500 + $240 = $7,140 | $5,640 | $5,400 + $1,500 + $2,640 = $9,540 | $8,040 |
| 10 people | $10,800 + $1,500 + $240 = $12,540 | $11,040 | $10,800 + $1,500 + $2,640 = $14,940 | $13,440 |
If you pay Professional monthly at $100 a seat, add $360, $600 and $1,200 to those year-one and year-two figures for 3, 5 and 10 people.
The AI line in this table is small for a reason: HubSpot's $0.50 is among the cheaper per-resolution rates in this market. The seats are the weight. Whether paying per head is worth it for you is a separate question we cover in per-seat vs flat pricing.
- Tickets, chats, deals and marketing emails live on one contact record
- Calling minutes, WhatsApp, surveys, SLAs and a customer portal under one vendor
- The AI agent bills only when it resolves, at $0.50
- A real free tier for 2 users, and 2,000+ listed app integrations
- The AI agent, knowledge base and SLAs all require Professional
- $1,500 onboarding fee and an annual commitment
- Seats scale with headcount, and credits expire monthly
- Core vs Service seats and credit rules take real effort to price
When HubSpot is the right buy
If your contacts, deals and email campaigns already sit in HubSpot CRM, Service Hub's value is that a support ticket and a sales deal belong to the same person. Moving support to another tool means either running two systems or losing that context. That alone can justify the seats, and most alternatives, Talvo included, can't replicate it.
It also fits teams that need more than chat and email. Professional lists 3,000 calling minutes with up to three HubSpot phone numbers, WhatsApp up to 1,000 messages a month, a customer portal, and skill-based routing on Enterprise. If a large share of your customers phone you, a chat-and-email tool is the wrong answer regardless of price.
Where it gets hard to justify: a small team that wants live chat and an AI agent and has no existing HubSpot CRM. Then you're paying a CRM suite's per-seat price and a $1,500 entry fee for a part of it.
What the same team pays on Talvo
Talvo prices per workspace, not per seat, and has no onboarding fee. The AI is $0.49 per resolution beyond what each plan includes. Take the cheapest plan with enough teammate seats (Starter allows 5, Growth 15, Scale 25) and the lowest total once the AI is counted.
- 100 resolutions a month, 3 or 5 people: Talvo's Starter plan, $49 a month, includes 100 resolutions, so $49 × 12 = $588 in year one on monthly billing, or $39 × 12 = $468 billed annually.
- 100 resolutions a month, 10 people: Starter's 5-teammate cap is too small. Talvo's Growth plan, $149 a month, is $149 × 12 = $1,788, or $119 × 12 = $1,428 billed annually.
- 500 resolutions a month, 3, 5 or 10 people: Starter would cost $49 + 400 × $0.49 = $245 a month, so Talvo's Growth plan wins at $149 a month, which includes 500 resolutions. That's $1,788 a year on monthly billing, $1,428 on annual.

Set that beside HubSpot's year-one range of $4,980 to $14,940 and the gap is plain. It isn't the same product, though. Talvo is new and in beta, with no reviews. It handles chat and email only, with no phone, WhatsApp, SMS or social channels. It has no native HubSpot integration and no SOC 2 report, and its AI answers only from your published help articles. What it gives you is the chat widget, shared inbox, AI agent, copilot and help center at one price, and its free plan covers 2 teammates and 25 AI resolutions a month during the beta.
If you're weighing HubSpot against other tools, our HubSpot Service Hub alternatives post prices the main contenders for the same three teams and starts with the question that decides it: whether you're leaving the CRM or only the support tool. For other vendors' bills in the same format, see Zendesk pricing and Help Scout pricing, or run your own numbers in the support cost calculator.
How to price your own team before you talk to sales
- Count seats by what people doSeparate the people who answer customers from the people who only read reports. View-only seats are free, and Professional seats start at $90 or $100.
- Decide the tier by features, not priceIf you need the AI agent, knowledge base or SLAs, you are on Professional. Add the $1,500 onboarding fee to year one.
- Forecast resolutions, not conversationsThe AI bills per resolved conversation at 50 credits. Multiply resolutions by 50 credits, subtract the 3,000 included on Professional, and multiply what's left by $0.01.
- Check what else uses creditsIncluded credits are the highest single allotment across hubs, and unused ones expire each month.
- Compare year two, not only year oneThe onboarding fee disappears in year two, and so does the gap it created.

Frequently asked questions
How much is HubSpot Service Hub per user?
On HubSpot's pricing page (checked October 21, 2026), Professional starts at $90 per seat per month paid annually, with $100 struck through, which is most likely the pay-monthly price. Enterprise starts at $150 per seat. Starter shows $7 per seat with $20 struck through; that card is the bundled Starter Customer Platform, and a third-party tracker reports $7 as a promotion. Free covers up to 2 users, and the page doesn't state a seat minimum.
Is the HubSpot onboarding fee mandatory, and can it be waived?
HubSpot's pricing page lists a required one-time onboarding fee of $1,500 for Professional and $3,500 for Enterprise. Starter lists none. HubSpot's pricing page says nothing about waiving it. One agency blog claims a Solutions Partner can change this, which is a partner's claim, so ask HubSpot in writing before you sign.
How much does HubSpot's Customer Agent cost per conversation?
$0.50 per resolved conversation, paid as 50 credits at $0.01 each. Since April 14, 2026 it replaces the earlier $1.00 per conversation rate. It is available only on Professional and Enterprise, and the pricing page offers a 14-day free trial with a Professional or Enterprise seat.
Can you use Customer Agent without Professional?
No. HubSpot's feature table lists the Customer Agent only on Professional and Enterprise. Free and Starter show no Customer Agent. Professional also requires the $1,500 onboarding fee and an annual commitment.
What are HubSpot Credits, and how many come with Service Hub Professional?
Credits are the meter for HubSpot's AI features, priced at $0.01 each or 1,000 for $10, and they are also available through Pay-as-You-Go. Professional includes 3,000 a month, Starter 500 and Enterprise 5,000. At 50 credits per resolution, Professional's allotment covers about 60 Customer Agent resolutions a month.
Do HubSpot Credits roll over?
No. HubSpot states that credits reset monthly and unused credits do not roll over. Included credits also are not additive across products, so you get the highest single allotment rather than the sum.
What's the difference between a Service seat and a Core seat?
Starter Service Hub plans are accessed with Core Seats, and Professional and Enterprise use Service Seats. HubSpot's catalog lists Core Seats at $20, $50 and $75 and Service Seats at $100 and $150 on Professional and Enterprise. HubSpot's pages don't spell out how the two combine on a Professional invoice. View-only seats cost nothing extra.
Is Breeze AI included in Service Hub Starter?
The Customer Agent is not. The pricing page's feature table shows it only on Professional and Enterprise, and Starter includes 500 credits a month. For any other Breeze tools on Free or Starter, check HubSpot's credits page for your account.
