Five people on Front Professional pay $325 a month on annual billing, or $425 month to month, and that is before any AI. Let Front's AI agent resolve 600 conversations and the annual bill becomes $859. The headline on Front's pricing page says the AI starts at $0.05 a conversation, which is true, and which has very little to do with what a resolved conversation costs. If you are trying to price Front app seats, Copilot and Autopilot for a small team, the useful number is the total, so that is what this post builds.

Talvo competes with Front, so here is how we kept this fair. Every Front number comes from Front's pricing page and its Autopilot billing article, checked October 21, 2026, in US dollars before tax. Every sum is shown so you can redo it with your own volumes. Where Front's pages leave something open, we say so instead of guessing.

Front's bill has three meters

Seats are the first meter, and they come in three plans. Copilot, the assistant that helps your agents write, is the second, and it is a per-seat add-on on the two cheaper plans. Autopilot, the AI agent that talks to your customers, is the third, and it is billed per conversation by how far it got.

Everything else is smaller: WhatsApp at Meta's cost plus a 20% fee, extra API capacity, and paid services such as onboarding. We'll get to those. The first three decide whether Front costs you $200 a month or $3,000.

Seats: Starter, Professional and Enterprise

Front sells per seat, and defines a seat as "a paid Front license that can be granted to a unique user in your organization." There is no free plan. The pricing page loads on annual prices, with a toggle that says "Save 24%", so most third-party articles quote only the annual column.

PlanAnnual billing (per seat, per month)Monthly billing (per seat, per month)Seat capChannels
Starter$25$35Up to 10One channel type: email, Front Chat or SMS
Professional$65$85Up to 50Omnichannel: email, SMS, social, WhatsApp and more
Enterprise$105Annual onlyNone statedSame as Professional

Two things in that table do most of the damage to a small team's budget.

The first is the Starter limit. "One channel type" means exactly that: a Starter workspace can run email, or Front Chat, or SMS, and not a mix. A team that wants customers to reach them by email and chat is on Professional, at $65 or $85 a seat. Starter also has no ticket SLAs, no webhooks and no customer portal with ticket forms, and its knowledge base has no custom domain.

The second is the cliff at the eleventh seat. Starter stops at 10 seats. Ten seats on Starter are $250 a month on annual billing ($350 monthly). Hire one more person and you are on Professional, where eleven seats are 11 × $65 = $715 ($935 monthly). One new hire adds $465 to the annual-billed bill.

Professional also adds the things most support teams end up wanting: SLAs, webhooks, load balancing, social channels, up to five workspaces, a customizable knowledge base with a custom domain, and SAML SSO. Enterprise adds unlimited rules and macros, custom roles, custom reports and unlimited analytics retention. It is sold on annual contracts only.

Front gives you a 14-day trial with all Professional features and no credit card. Payment by wire or ACH is offered only on annual plans with a total contract value over $12K, and Front requires an onboarding package on contracts over $25k.

Copilot: $20 a seat, or included at the top

Copilot is Front's AI assistant for your agents. It is an add-on at $20 a seat per month on Starter and Professional, and it comes with Enterprise. Four other AI features, AI Topics, Compose, Translate and Summarize, are on every plan, though the page notes caps of 200 requests per teammate per day on some of them.

On Starter the add-on is not small. A Starter seat is $25 on annual billing, so Copilot lifts it to $45, close to double. On Professional it takes a $65 seat to $85.

That produces an odd bit of arithmetic. A Professional seat with Copilot is $85 on annual billing, and an Enterprise seat is $105 with Copilot already inside. So the jump to Enterprise costs $20 a seat for everything else it adds, which includes Smart QA and Smart CSAT, the two quality tools that Front's comparison table lists under Enterprise only. Front's page shows no add-on price for either on the lower plans, so a team that wants them on Professional would have to ask.

Autopilot: three charges, and you pay for the highest one reached

Autopilot is Front's AI agent. It is an add-on on every plan and is billed per conversation, according to the furthest it got:

OutcomeChargeWhat Front says it does
Triage$0.05"Automate tagging and routing"
Handoff$0.39"Gathers more context or drafts a reply before handing off"
Resolution$0.89"Fully resolves the conversation without any replies from your team"

"Conversations will only be charged once for the highest automation level achieved." So a conversation that the AI tags, then collects details on, then resolves, is one $0.89 charge, not three.

Read the middle row twice, because it is the one that surprises people. A handoff costs $0.39 even when the AI doesn't answer anything and your human does all the work. If you switch Autopilot on to gather order numbers or draft replies for your team, every one of those conversations is billed at least $0.39, whether or not it ever resolves. Triage-only is the cheap way to use Autopilot: tag and route, nothing more, for five cents.

Billing is pay-as-you-go, invoiced monthly on actual usage. Front's help center says volume discounts require pre-paid commitments, and doesn't publish them. There is a 30-day Autopilot trial with full access to the automations and up to 1,000 resolutions. Autopilot is available on all subscription plans, including legacy ones.

Front's help article also sets the time windows it uses to decide a conversation was "resolved" with no reply from your team. Read them before you forecast, because they set how many of your conversations land in the $0.89 bucket versus the cheaper ones.

What 3, 5 and 10 people pay

Here are three teams priced end to end. The assumptions are ours, and they are stated so you can swap them out. The teams are 3, 5 and 10 people, and the AI touches 300, 1,000 and 3,000 conversations a month. We priced everyone on Professional, because that is the cheapest plan that runs email and chat together. All prices are list, and Autopilot is not discounted.

First, the Autopilot meter on its own. The three mixes are: triage only (every AI-touched conversation stops at tagging and routing); resolution-heavy (60% resolved, the other 40% reach handoff; the 60% is our assumption, not a Front figure); and all resolved (the ceiling).

AI-touched conversations a monthTriage onlyResolution-heavyAll resolved
300300 × $0.05 = $15180 × $0.89 + 120 × $0.39 = $207300 × $0.89 = $267
1,0001,000 × $0.05 = $50600 × $0.89 + 400 × $0.39 = $6901,000 × $0.89 = $890
3,0003,000 × $0.05 = $1501,800 × $0.89 + 1,200 × $0.39 = $2,0703,000 × $0.89 = $2,670

Now add seats. Each cell below is the annual-billing total, then the monthly-billing total, for a Professional workspace.

TeamSeats onlySeats and triage-only AutopilotSeats and resolution-heavy AutopilotAdd Copilot as well
3 people, 300 conversations$195 / $255$210 / $270$402 / $462$462 / $522
5 people, 1,000 conversations$325 / $425$375 / $475$1,015 / $1,115$1,115 / $1,215
10 people, 3,000 conversations$650 / $850$800 / $1,000$2,720 / $2,920$2,920 / $3,120

The arithmetic for the middle team: 5 seats × $65 = $325 annual (5 × $85 = $425 monthly); plus $690 of resolution-heavy Autopilot gives $1,015 ($1,115); plus Copilot at 5 × $20 = $100 gives $1,115 ($1,215).

Two readings of that table. If your AI work is tagging and routing, Front stays reasonable, and the seat count is the whole story. If you expect Autopilot to resolve a real share of customer questions, the AI line is already bigger than the seat line at 3 people ($207 against $195), and at 10 people it is more than three times the seats ($2,070 against $650).

A team that stays on email only can drop to Starter and save a lot: 3, 5 and 10 seats are $75, $125 and $250 a month on annual billing, or $105, $175 and $350 monthly, before Copilot. Starter allows 10 rules, a 6-month analytics history and basic reporting.

Contract terms and the smaller print

Most of Front's rough edges are about commitment rather than price. Some are on the pricing page and some are questions you should put to a sales rep.

Ask Front before you sign
  • Can you reduce seats mid-term, and do you get any credit?
  • Which plan do your channels need? One channel type on Starter means email or chat, not both
  • Is there a minimum seat count for your plan?
  • How are Autopilot's resolved and handoff outcomes decided, and over what time window?
  • Will you need Smart QA or Smart CSAT? Front lists them under Enterprise only, with no add-on price for lower plans
  • Are you adding WhatsApp? Native WhatsApp is Meta-billed costs plus a 20% admin fee, on Professional and Enterprise only
  • Do you need more than the API rate limit (50, 100 or 200 requests a minute by plan)? Front charges $200 per extra 100 requests a minute, per month
  • Is an onboarding package required? Front requires one on contracts over $25k

Channel limits are the last quiet cap. Each license is allowed 10 channels on Starter, 30 on Professional and 50 on Enterprise, so a five-person Professional team can connect up to 150 channels in total. That is a lot for a small team, and not something you will hit.

Is Front worth it for a small team?

Often yes, if email is where your work lives. Front is known for the shared inbox that behaves like Gmail or Outlook, with comments inside the thread, shared drafts and assignments, plus CRM sync with Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics on Professional and up.

Front
Where it's strong
  • Deepest email collaboration of the tools we compare: comments, shared drafts, assignments
  • CRM sync with Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics on Professional and up
  • SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, with SAML SSO on Professional and Enterprise
  • Autopilot only bills when it does something, so a quiet month costs little
Watch out for
  • Per-seat pricing, and the 11th seat moves you from Starter to Professional
  • Starter runs one channel type only; chat plus email needs Professional
  • Copilot is $20 a seat extra and Autopilot resolutions are $0.89 each
  • No free plan, and Enterprise is annual only

The honest dividing line is the shape of your support work. If a few people share an inbox, hand threads to each other and need those threads to sit next to a CRM, Front is a better tool than a chat-first product and the seat price is the cost of that. If your support is mostly a website chat widget plus a support email address, you are paying per seat for depth you may not use, and paying $0.89 a time for the AI.

What the same team pays on Talvo

We make Talvo, so read this section the way you would read any vendor's own comparison. Talvo prices the workspace, not the seat: a plan has a teammate limit, and adding a teammate inside it never changes the bill. Starter is $49 a month ($39 on annual billing) for 5 teammates and 100 AI resolutions. Growth is $149 ($119) for 15 and 500. Scale is $299 ($249) for 25 and 2,000. Each extra resolution is $0.49, and a hand-off to a human is never billed. Copilot (drafted replies, conversation summaries, one-click translation) is included from Starter up.

For a like-for-like count we assumed 60% of the AI-touched conversations become resolutions, so 180, 600 and 1,800 a month. Each team gets the plan with the lowest total among those with enough teammates:

TeamTalvo, annual billingTalvo, monthly billing
3 people, 180 resolutionsStarter: $39 + 80 × $0.49 = $78.20Starter: $49 + 80 × $0.49 = $88.20
5 people, 600 resolutionsGrowth: $119 + 100 × $0.49 = $168Growth: $149 + 100 × $0.49 = $198
10 people, 1,800 resolutionsScale: $249, with 2,000 includedScale: $299, with 2,000 included

Against Front's $402, $1,015 and $2,720 (annual billing, resolution-heavy Autopilot, no Copilot), the gap is big, and most of it is the per-resolution price and the per-seat price together. The comparison is not like for like in features, and you should know what you would give up.

Talvo has two-way email, but it works by forwarding your support address in, not by connecting to each person's mailbox. Replies go out from Talvo's sending address under your workspace name and do not appear in your Gmail Sent folder. There is no custom sending domain, though attachments work in both directions. There is no SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or voice, no SOC 2 report or SAML single sign-on, no Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics sync (integrations today are a REST API, webhooks and Slack), and it is a beta product with no reviews yet. Our Front alternatives post goes through those trade-offs in full.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Front cost per user?

On annual billing Front costs $25 per seat per month on Starter, $65 on Professional and $105 on Enterprise. Month-to-month billing is $35 on Starter and $85 on Professional, and Enterprise is only sold annually. Copilot adds $20 per seat on Starter and Professional, and Autopilot is billed separately per conversation.

Does Front have monthly billing?

Yes for Starter and Professional, at $35 and $85 per seat per month. The pricing page defaults to annual prices and a toggle that says annual saves 24%, so third-party articles often quote only the annual numbers. Enterprise is available on annual contracts only.

What is the maximum number of seats on Front Starter?

Front says Starter supports up to 10 seats, and Professional up to 50. Starter is also limited to a single channel type, either email, Front Chat or SMS. Going from 10 to 11 seats means moving to Professional: 10 Starter seats are $250 a month on annual billing and 11 Professional seats are $715.

What is Front Autopilot and how is it billed?

Autopilot is Front's AI agent, sold as an add-on on every plan and billed per conversation. A conversation is charged once, at the highest level it reaches: $0.05 for triage, $0.39 for handoff and $0.89 for resolution. Front's help center says usage is pay-as-you-go and invoiced monthly, and that volume discounts require pre-paid commitments.

What is the difference between triage, handoff and resolution pricing?

Triage ($0.05) tags and routes a conversation. Handoff ($0.39) gathers context or drafts a reply before passing the conversation to a person, so it is charged even when a human does the answering. Resolution ($0.89) means the AI fully resolved the conversation without any reply from your team.

Is Copilot included in Front?

Copilot is a $20 per seat per month add-on on Starter and Professional and is included in Enterprise. AI Topics, Compose, Translate and Summarize are on every plan, with some capped at 200 requests per teammate per day.

Does Front have a free plan or trial?

There is no free plan. Front offers a 14-day trial with all Professional features and no credit card required, and a separate 30-day Autopilot trial with full access to automations and up to 1,000 resolutions, according to its help center.

Can you reduce Front seats mid-contract?

Front's pricing page doesn't cover cutting seats mid-term, so ask for the answer in writing before you sign. The pricing page does say Enterprise is annual only, wire or ACH payment is limited to annual plans over $12K, and an onboarding package is required on contracts over $25k.
